Beer is a delicate combination of production techniques that are common to many types of beverage processing, for example: - Beer is very perishable, requiring anoxic and aseptic processing coupled with finely tuned pasteurisation (draught beer is membrane filtered and not pasteurised) - Precise carbonation is required to meet customer satisfaction - Quality packaging with minimal unwanted flavour and oxygen ingress
Awards are a vital resource that we use to analyse our beer production process. The judges at these awards are highly skilled with precise tasting abilities coupled with years of experience.
When judging beer, attention is drawn to the beers colour, frothy head, complex aromas and flavours, much like sipping that first coffee in the morning. Importance is placed on the beers well balanced flavours of malt, hops and yeast, but also on flavours that are not present, which is where experienced analysis from precise palates is required.
These days we enter our beers into the “BrewNZ Beer Awards” and the “Australian International Beer Awards” because they have the most reputable judging credentials in Australasia.
